On September 28, 2023, the House of Representatives voted on a funding package of 300 million dollars for Ukraine. The vote passed decisively, with a large bipartisan majority.
However, more members of the House voted against this aid package for Ukraine than on any aid package since February 24, 2022. For the first time, more Republican members of the House voted against aid to Ukraine than voted for it.
The vote results on GovTrack.us:
Some Republican politicians are under the impression that their voters oppose aid for Ukraine. In the vast majority of districts, this is untrue – but we need to prove it to them.
Don’t let a loud and extremist minority drown you out! Contact your Representative’s office today, and tell them what you want from them.
What can YOU do?
1. Who is your Representative?
You have one Representative in the House of Representatives. How can you get their details?
Go to ziplook.house.gov and follow the instructions to locate your Representative. It will ask for your zip code. In some cases, if it comes up with more than one possible answer within your postal code, it will also ask for your address.
Don’t feel comfortable giving out your address? Use this zoomable map.
When you find the name of your Representative – write it down!
2. How did your Representative vote?
Open the vote results from 28 Sept. Find your state your representative in the list, and see how they cast their vote.
- Red/”nay” means they voted against the aid for Ukraine, and green/”yea” means they voted for the aid package.
- Note: If they’re Republican, you can also see how they voted on previous important bills about Ukraine.
3. Tell them how YOU feel.
Your Representative has literally one job – to represent you.
- If they voted yes – say thank you!
- If they voted no – tell them what you think.
If you support aid to Ukraine, tell them why. How important is this to you? Will it affect how you vote in the next elections?
Of particular concert are the Representatives who were previously rated very high in their support for Ukraine – but voted against the latest funding bill.
